In 2004, our founder, Chris Ruess, took a leap of faith that changed everything. After years of appreciating truly great coffee, he wanted to create his own. Leaving behind his career as an architect, he cashed in his 401K and bought his first roaster. With a clear vision for small-batch roasting and a commitment to quality, Mississippi Mud Coffee was born.

This medium roast set the foundation for everything we do. With an earthy, smooth profile and rich notes of chocolate and almond, it became an instant favorite. Two decades later, it remains a bestseller, loved for its balanced flavor and everyday drinkability. Even as we’ve expanded our offerings, this blend continues to define what great coffee should be—crafted with care and roasted to perfection.
